Description

Real stone, carved by hand. Pick a piece up and you feel it: cool, polished smooth, with the grain of the onyx running through it. Marble does what it likes, so the veining and the depth of green shift from set to set. Choose Compact for a shelf or Grand for the coffee table.

About the maker

Our marble sets are made by skilled artisans in Pakistan, a country sitting on some of the largest marble and onyx reserves in the world, across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Punjab. Stone carving there goes back generations. Quarried blocks are cut down to workable pieces, each chessman is turned on a lathe and finished by hand, and every square is cut by hand, laid up into a board and polished.

Marble punches well above its price. The weight, the cool of real stone under your hand, the veining that makes every board different. These look and feel far more expensive than they are, which is exactly why they are one of our favourite things to sell as a gift. And never two the same.

Care & maintenance

Hand finished from natural stone, so veining and colour vary from set to set. Not for food use. Not dishwasher safe.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth.
For marks, use a barely damp cloth with a drop of neutral soap, then dry straight away.
Never use acidic or abrasive cleaners. Vinegar, lemon, bleach, scouring powder and bathroom sprays will etch the surface.
Keep out of direct sunlight. Prolonged sun can fade the dyed colour.
Lift pieces rather than sliding them, and store them separated rather than loose in a bag.
Keep the felt bases dry.

Absolutely Stunning! I purchased the 37cm Onyx Chess Set.

The day after I purchased their website went down and I was concerned that I had been scammed - A quick DM on Instagram eased my mind with quick and effective communication from the team!

My only feedback would be to add a layer of Felt to the bottom of the board and pieces since it is marble it will scratch.

I adore this set and I have only had it for a matter of hours and already told 8 people about ChessWorld and my incredible purchase!

$300 is well worth it! It came in less than one week and I live in Remote QLD. Beautifully and securely packed as well!
