The board for metal, glass and resin pieces. They all look right on carbon fibre black, and one customer spent months hunting for exactly this to sit under a vintage metal set. Care & maintenance

The board

Dust with a soft, dry cloth, wiping along the grain.
Do not use detergents, solvents, spray polish or silicone furniture sprays.
Never let water sit on the surface. On veneered and inlaid boards it can lift the veneer.
Keep away from direct sunlight, heaters and air conditioning vents. Sun fades timber unevenly and dry heat can open joints.
Avoid big swings in humidity. Timber moves.
Store flat or upright and supported, not leaning against a wall.
On folding and storage boards, do not force hinges, latches or drawers.
Keep the felt bases dry.

A sensational find

I spent a long time looking for a board to suit a vintage metal chess set. Finding something stylish that was not wood was difficult. This carbon fibre board (with the reliable Dal Rossi brand) is perfect! The safe storage area for my cherished pieces is a bonus. My largest pieces have a 5cm base and this 50cm board fits them perfectly. So do the storage compartments.
The board was exceptional well package and posted out very promptly. The board has received many compliments across four generations.
I have yet to play a game on the board and my pieces are heavy ... I am just hoping this sensational gloss finish does not scratch! If it does I'll get back to you :-)
