Description

A bold look for the price. Silver on one side, bronze on the other, with a surface finish that suggests carved marble with brushed-metal trim. The pieces are resin with weight in the base, so they stand firm and feel substantial. Sold on their own, for a board you already have, and popular as the pieces in our drawer sets.

The pieces

This one is ours. We curate it, and have it made in China by factories we have worked with for years.

Making our own is how we keep control of two things: what the product actually is, and what it costs. We choose the materials, the weighting and the finish, and we check what turns up. It is the reason our tournament gear and club sets are priced the way they are.

Care & maintenance

The pieces

The most forgiving material in our range.

Wipe with a damp cloth. Mild soap is fine for marks. Dry afterwards.
Do not use solvents, methylated spirits, acetone or abrasive cleaners. They dull or soften the surface.
Hand-painted and antiqued finishes should be wiped gently, never scrubbed.
Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight. Plastic and resin can yellow.
Keep the felt bases dry.

Pay what you get

This is a cheap set that looks nice. And for that value it’s great.
However upon any closer look, the detailing is quite poor. The leather base pads are not even and the pieces wobble. The plastic is covered in Burs and the “marble look” almost feels like it didn’t set correctly, with an odd soft texture and poor colouring especially in the Black pieces.

If you’re expecting average these will be fine but they are by no means a display set.
