I bought chess pieces for a 50cm x 50cm board (32 pieces).
It was very surprising when all of the pieces fit into this box standing up. None of the pieces need to be tipped onto their side when fitting into the box. The magnetic lid also makes the box really satisfying to open and close.
Having invested in a beautiful set of chess pieces from Chess World one year ago and the amazing Queen's Gambit board last week, I couldn't resist this box.
