About the maker

This one is ours. We curate it, and have it made in China by factories we have worked with for years.

Making our own is how we keep control of two things: what the product actually is, and what it costs. We choose the materials, the weighting and the finish, and we check what turns up. It is the reason our tournament gear and club sets are priced the way they are.

Care & maintenance

Glass is non-porous, so it cleans more easily than stone.

Wipe with a damp cloth. A little mild dish soap is fine.
Dry with a lint-free cloth to avoid streaks.
Avoid abrasive pads and scouring powder. They scratch.
Lift pieces rather than sliding them. Glass chips at the edges.
Keep the felt bases dry.

Small, Fun and Surprisingly Entertaining

This little glass chess set ended up being much more entertaining than expected. It was pretty funny pulling it out when we had guests over, and it actually held everyone’s attention long enough for some of them to play their first game of chess. Despite being only 20 cm, the pieces are still clear and easy enough to use — nobody had to squint to work out what they were moving! The clear and frosted glass also gives it a really nice look, so it works well as a decorative piece when it isn’t being played. One of the pieces was leaning a little like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but apart from that the set arrived nicely and it hasn’t affected our enjoyment of it. It’s a great addition to a coffee table, side table or any small area where a full-sized chessboard would take up too much room. A fun little set that looks good, takes up hardly any space and can unexpectedly get people interested in playing chess.

Nice

I love chess sets, though am fussy about the ones I pick! This surprisingly attractive little set caught my eye, and has found a nice place on a bookshelf :)

Simple and elegant

A lot more elegant in person than I expected. Small, simple, and somehow looks good almost anywhere.

Cute and classy

A cute and classy 20 cm set. Fits nicely on a coffee table as a display. The dark pieces are frosted.
