Functional and design brilliance - a gem of a set!
This magnificent magnetic set arrived today and I was instantly blown away at its amazing quality. The finish of the wood and the outstanding quality of the pieces was far better than I expected - I was actually really impressed at what a “beautiful thing” this set is! The reason I bought this magnetic chess set was for the purpose of being able to read and analyse games on a tray lying on a couch or in bed, or also as something easy to carry to the library for study. I thought the magnetic pieces would give more stability as I worked through games with book in hand, which it certainly does. I chose the board as it didn’t fold, which is what I wanted for this set. The slide out drawers are sleek and smooth, perfect for protecting and transporting the pieces. Not only functional, but lovely to use. Someone has obviously put a lot of thought into the design of this set in terms of its purpose, but in addition, they have added many aesthetic features that make this set a pure joy to use.
